demo or album: all the way > MIXING
Analogue vs. digital > Digital mixing in a studio has become quite common these days. In our studio both analogue and digital mixing are possible. Digital mixing has the advantage that settings can be saved and that digital effects can be integrated. On the other hand, digital recording implies a loss of dynamics. We therefore prefer analogue synthesis of sound. In addition, through our Studer 963 we use various forms of analogue peripheral equipment.
Time and attention > We prefer to dedicate much time and energy to the mixing process. Quite often the mixing process is neglected, as it often is done as rush job, by the end of recording day, hampered by lack of time and fatigue. We strongly recommend reserving time and a budget for mixing. Realize that in professional productions even a limited mixing process can take several weeks.
